halboston9@aol.com Escondido CA Golf Industry Single 1 2 I got my Degree in Education From KU in 1965. After graduation I was teaching music in Logan Utah, at Skyview HS for two years. After that I continued moving west to San Jose, Ca. I got my MA from San Jose State, in 1970. Stayed in teaching for another 5 years. But they were always cutting the music programs and I had a family to be concerned with. During the time I was at KU, I got hooked on golf, and in 1976, I was given the opportunity to work with the LPGA and PGA tours and I am still working in the golf industry. I have just about done it all in the Industry, from a manager of a golf retail shop, to being one of the partners, developing a 27 hole golf course in Boulder City, Nevada.
In January of 05, I suffered a brain aneurism and was in a coma for about six months and in the hospital a year and six months. At this time I have made a full recovery and I am getting back to work on a full time basis.

Wellington MO Retired Married 2 4 1 Worked w/K.C.Life Ins.Co. Married Karl Fallman in 1963.We moved to various locations in the midwest area during Karl's sales career. Started our family/a son(1965) and daughter(1966). Moved to the country for our children to begin school.Loved the area and have stayed. I worked various jobs when our children were older: school secretary/social services/real estate sales. Now that we're both retired, we enjoy spending time w/family and friends, going to our grandchildrens' activities, and traveling. Enjoyed the musical productions & choir w/Mr. Bishop, cheering for our great FB and BB teams, and all the fun events and good times with some very special people at SWHS. We were provided an excellent opportunity for an education. We probably didn't realize then..what a great time it was to be a teen! Wish we could bottle that time up for our grandchildren! Thanks to the Reunion Committee...you've done a GREAT job!

lajarainwater@cox.net Topeka KS Nursing (retired) Widowed 2 two three Married too young but had two great kids. Married once again but only briefly, then raised kids as a single mother. Both are educated at master's level, outdoing their mother. After living as a single for 17 years I did actually meet the love of my life and we spent 14 years together before he lost his life to pancreatic cancer. One gratifying thing about that is that I was able to care for him during the last jourrney of his life. Nursing has been rewarding, but much has changed since I graduated in 72! Like Janet Turnbull, I also worked at the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care as a reviewer, and it was my favorite job. It was a learning experience for the nine years spent doing it. Janet, if you happen to read this, I ended up doing Medicare outliers - day and cost!!!! My records were at minimum 12 inches thick! (a medical record like that today would put me to sleep). But I learned a great deal during my tenure there. In 98 I stopped working and kept books for my husband's business until his death. Currently I am selliing the home I shared with my husband and have purchased a smaller condo which I am redoing (kitchen redesign, windows, door, plumbing, and paint). A man reading this would think to himself, "What did she actually LIKE about it before she bought it?" But this is a woman thing and likely the last nest I will ever build for myself. The one after this will be of high quality cardboard designed to withstand the rigors of underground elemenets. I laughed and laughed at Bill Alden's profile and am honored to have the distinction of actually making someone's worst high school memory list. He's right; there was nothing for Ronnie Stewart to be jealous of. This, friends, is the result of young men marinating in their own testosterone! Hey Spanky...Rave On! Many great friends and lots of fun. Two teachers stand out in my memory: Mr. Bishop and Mr. Sanders. And who could forget Jack Stilts? Sororities, fraternities, gum boxes, decorative pillows and paddles the pledges made. In those days my only worry was what would I wear to Friday night's game.
I don't have a worst memory; Ronnie Stewart wasn't wanting to beat me up.

jbretthompson@cox.net Mesa AZ Married 3 7 1 Chuck and I met at CU and were married in Boulder. We lived in OH, IL, PA, RI, NY, NJ and now have lived in Arizona the longest of anywhere--14 years! We enjoy our three children, their spouses and their children whenever we get the chance to visit as they all live out of town. Since moving to AZ, we became the proud owners of a beautiful red 1957 Classic Thunderbird. There is a very active club here in the Valley and as a result, we have traveled most everywhere in AZ as well as to Denver and Portland on T-bird trips. The car has won many awards at the various shows we attend. I volunteer at the Desert Botanical Garden doing various things and as a result have learned a lot about the desert, its plants and animals. I am still working hard at my golf game--remember I grew up doing watersports! I worked at various occupations before moving here, but my main duty was always being a mom, which I still enjoy being today...and being a Grandma is even better! It has been fun to watch this website take shape and being able to see and read about everyone. Looking forward to the reunion--see you there.

rhbretzpc@aol.com Marina del Rey CA Semi-retired Attorney Single Attended University of Arizona in Tucson, played some College Basketball (mostly was on the bench - - same old story as in HS), did the fraternity thing (Sigma Chi with Goar and Upjohn)received several degrees, and took a job in 1972 with a large law firm in LA (assuming I would not like it and would probably want to come back to KC). I have been in LA ever since (corporate/securities and business litigation attorney). I just bought a condo in Tucson in Sabino Canyon area with Kirk Vaughan (he went to the U of A for a short period and we were room mates), and I get back to KC pretty often to see relatives and friends like Vaughan, Sneed, Baker, Helmstetter, Melcher, Valentine, etc.). We also do a SW B-Ball Reunion in Scottsdale at Jim Davis' House at Desert-Mountain Country Club or in KC , on a regular basis. My sister Lynn (SW '63) lives in Tucson as does Ruthie Eisenberg (same class) and Carol Hydeman (Elain's sister who is a bit younger) and, Barbara Molotsky part-time. I am trying to talk my best High School sweet hart, Sherri Gilmore (Class of '63), who is married with 5 children (I think) and some grand children and lives in KC, into coming to the 50th Reunion with me next year. I have been together with the same lady (Gretchen Jaeger) for 30 plus years, who I am sure will come to the Reunion with me so she can see all the SW Crowd (and meet Sherri)- - she knows quite a few SW Indians. We travel some, and went to see Jim and Bunny Goar with Spence Valentine in North Carolina where the Goars hang out now (after a stint in Tucson). Gretchen loves the animals, so we have traveled to Southern Africa several times and some other interesting places like India. Like a lot of us, I miss Carol Nelson Frey and Wilson Tanner (and Elaine Hydeman, Andy Lyons and the others we have lost already). Worst Memories: I was always the last guy NOT cut in Basketball tryouts - - tough "sweating out" 3-4 cuts every year; Linda Elliott dumping me for Bill Kite, and Elaine Hydeman dumping me (she gave back my ID braclet) for Gary Ravis; and Barbara Throckmorton being so much taller than I was that she never paid any attention to me (versus Greg Dolan for example). Being an 8th Grader (after Border Star) at SW was tough. Best Memories: Living on 66th Terrance, with Carl Helmstetter, across from school. So many good High School friends - - that still stay in touch. It was a wonderful time to be growing up - - in KC in the '50's and early '60's and going to Southwest. We were all very fortunate.

Grandpa/Tennis/Golf Married 2 3 1 Since 1961: Attended Mizzou, was a Sigma Chi there in a house full of Southwest legends. Became lifelong friends with Arni, Henkel,Strother and Shannon. Graduated from Business School and married Linda from Mexico,Mo. She was a Chi Omega at Mizzou and lifelong friends with Sussie Sword, our dear departed friend.
We started our careers in KC. Linda as a teacher and I joined Aetna Life and Casualty. Promoted to Claim Manager in Tulsa and Dallas then General Manager in Denver and Houston. I held every management position in the field and enjoyed working with our branch office employees and agents. I was proud of the number of employees thru the years that I promoted. I earned the CPCU and CLU professional designation and was President of the Houston CPCU Chapter. I retired after 35+ years as Vice President of the Western Region. Linda is also a retired teacher.
WE live on a golf course in North Houston and play golf and tennis year-round. I really enjoy the men’s tennis leagues and play both singles and doubles. Our daughter’s family lives here and we love being with our three Grandkids…..Olivia age 6 and twin boys age 3…..are they a hoot…..double trouble but double fun. Our son works in Dallas and we like our road trips which usually involves a golf resort, casino, or a special sporting event. Linda and I go the Texan football games and catch Mizzou when they play in Texas. We belong to many groups…bridge, book club, dinner groups, theatre and still love to dance. We were past Presidents of The Southern Nights Dance Club, 100 couples who plan theme dinner dance.
Southwest Memories: Good times with Jerry Arni, Frankie Travalant, Ginny Hall and Diane Varnum. Frat meetings think I was the last President of Pi Delt. All those sorority script dances. Crest Drive-in..pay for two but two more in the trunk. I had some success in Cross country, half mile and high jump. Putting those various things on top of the Meyer circle fountain. Rainbow tap room and the pool hall on Troost.
My worst memory was the awful New Years Eve party at my house…..what a mess….my ass was grounded until March.

MDBURN@attglobal.net Camdenton MO Retired Married 3 I pursued an EE degree at Rolla (then called the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy), but put it on hold after two years to get a job, get married, and join the Missouri National Guard.
In 1967 I hired on with IBM in KC for what turned out to be a 35-year career beginning with hardware maintenance, then software maintenence and development. As IBM is an acronym for I've Been Moved, I moved to San Jose, CA in 1978 and on to Raleigh, NC in 1989.
I met my wife-to-be while taking a programming class at Johnson County Community College, and after a long courtship, we were married in San Jose.
After retirement from IBM in 2003, it was back to the Lake of the Ozarks near Camdenton, Missouri.

Leawood KS Venture Capitalist/Investor Single 1 Yes, I am the former Harvey Burstein as I changed to my middle name, Michael, some years ago. I've been in the investment business many years, primarily as a broker for E.F. Hutton. I left the brokerage business and, in recent years, have been doing venture capital deals along with being an investor in a local bank.

In terms of travel, I've recently returned from an exciting business/pleasure trip to mainland China, Macao and Hong Kong.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at our reunion.
I have only good memories of Southwest days and I wish I could do it all over again.
